The whitepaper

Business model, tokenomics and technical foundations of the Utopia Community at a glance — with a download of the full 2022 document.

Dated 2022

This whitepaper dates from 2022 and is not a MiCA crypto-asset whitepaper within the meaning of the EU regulation. It describes the business model and token mechanics purely for information and is not an offer to buy UWCT.

Business model

A social community token for real-world projects

Utopia Community GbR was founded in July 2021 by five equal co-founders, bringing experience from social engagement, business, marketing, technology and blockchain. The vast majority of proceeds from the token is earmarked for non-profit environmental and social projects, as well as for purchasing land for nature conservation.

Depending on the amount of tokens held, members get different rights and have a democratic say in which projects get funded.

Market & audience

Between the crypto community and social engagement

The core audience comes from the crypto space, from newcomers to experienced investors. The project also deliberately targets people with no crypto experience who care about environmental and social issues — for them, Utopia provides accessible educational material.

According to the pitchbook, worldwide donations add up to more than a trillion euros a year — a market where Utopia takes a transparent, community-driven approach.

Token distribution & IEO

100 billion UWCT, broadly distributed

Of the total 100,000,000,000 UWCT, 88% go to the public sale, 10% to marketing, and 1% each to the team and the IEO. Tokens held by the founding team and early investors are locked and released at 10% every three months.

An Initial Exchange Offering (IEO) was planned as the first distribution step, with a historical soft cap of 500,000 USD. A public offer is only permitted once the MiCA procedure has concluded — the mechanisms described here reflect the 2022 status and are purely informational.

Use of proceeds

Where the revenue goes

Every month, 5% of Utopia Community GbR’s available capital is released for projects the community votes on. Part of the revenue from other income streams also goes toward buying back and burning the community’s own tokens (buy-back & burn) — intended to stabilise the token’s value, without implying any promise of a return.

Of network fees, historically 50% goes to burning, 35% to operating costs and 15% to marketing.

Technical standards

TRC-20 on the Tron blockchain

UWCT is a TRC-20 token and runs on the Tron blockchain — enabling fast transactions at low network fees. Holding it requires a Tron-compatible wallet; members link their wallet to their profile so the platform can assign the correct membership status.

An expansion to further chains was under consideration in 2022 but is not part of the platform currently in operation.
